I’m talking about his portraits of people, drenched in rawness, evoking inner emotions by showing a psyche of pain. Dark terror including red intensifying screams.

Where is your identity? I’m looking for your mask of normality and banal lies. Hidden behind a surface of restlessness, revealing what we all are.

Next to this an enlargement of Anish Kapoor that touches you on your inside, showing you the inside. Feeling sick or scared by recognition. Meaty lumps of silicone flesh, just like your interior, bloody painful.

Bacon without meat. Fruity saltness, served on everything you want, including the hand. Smoked and perfect, terrifyingly vegan.

Lusciously in the Locus Amoenus https://www.tafeltafel.com/2016/12/21/lusciously-in-the-locus-amoenus/ https://www.tafeltafel.com/2016/12/21/lusciously-in-the-locus-amoenus/#respond Wed, 21 Dec 2016 01:12:41 +0000 http://www.tafeltafel.com/?p=263 Lusciously in the Locus Amoenus is my story about a utopian dream.
A dream in which Aldous Huxley meets Richard Mosse in Bhutan, surrounded by fallic symbols that shift in meaning by denotation and connotation. If I put it on there, will you taste me differently?
I don’t believe in paradise, but I do believe in sustainable developing and maintaining our world. I do believe in pink trees and overwhelming nature, mushrooms growing up the mountains and literature embracing our hearts. “Attention, here and now boys” (cfr. Island by Huxley)
This story doesn’t make any sense, because the world doesn’t.
And with every strive to perfection, there is a downfall, just like Eva picked the apple from the tree, seduced by the serpent in the garden of Eden.
I can see your nipples through the clouds, covered in natural latex. Your tattoos are surreal, little snake.
You are so transparent.
No harm to us all, let live, she said.
Strong women, pink flesh, aiming to fly the world, like Panamarenko could.
Let us put it into words, the world as it should be.
Impossible.

Blood orange https://www.tafeltafel.com/2016/03/03/blood-orange/ https://www.tafeltafel.com/2016/03/03/blood-orange/#respond Thu, 03 Mar 2016 07:23:28 +0000 http://www.tafeltafel.com/?p=30 When I was a little kid, I once spent an evening sitting at the dinner table, crying while eating a blood orange. I was so terrified by the idea that I was eating blood. In the meantime I am a true vegetarian, but I have also discovered the beauty of blood.

I stumbled upon this image a few months ago and it hasn’t left my mind ever since. Peter Kaaden is a German photographer, living in Berlin. His work is raw, confronting and erotic, but also very honest. It shows a youthfulness and a reality of the time we are living in, which I like.

On the other hand, I’m having a wintercold and I am already craving summer. So, no better way of curing my cold by eating ice cream. This blood orange sorbet contains all the good stuff you need to heal your sore throat or to cure your runny nose.

Tumeric, the mighty yellow spice, contains compounds with medicinal properties. These compounds are called curcuminoids, the most important of which is curcumin. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and it is a very strong antioxidant. Because curcumin is often poorly absorbed into the bloodstream, it is a good idea to consume black pepper with it. The piperine in the pepper can increase the absorption into the body by 2000 percent. Fat -cashew butter in this recipe- also helps in this process.

Raw honey, the liquid gold, has loads of healing properties.  Honey has been used since ancient times as part of traditional medicine. It is said to have several functions such as antibacterial, antioxidant, antitumor, anti-inflamatory, antibrowning, antiviral and immediate memory improving. The composition of honey depends on different factors, such as the flower source of the nectar and the season, soil type and climate, genetic factors, and processing methods. When using honey, make sure it is raw; heating kills the healing compounds. Also, make sure you are using bee-friendly honey and say thanks to our flying, black and yellow striped friends.

The recipe itself is really easy and takes only five minutes. Make sure to freeze your oranges in advance to enjoy this delight whenever you want.
