vimeo – excerpts

i was a womb within a womb, a muffled song
what begins to sing must become
leaking
into a trough of convalescent scales
i split together, i kiss apart
i bear myself over and over again
the broken sluice, the open marshlands
are leaking

swim back to the flesh

i erode my spine and pelvis in red
i hold sediments of silt and lime
me, cradle for beasts low to the ground
saboteur for bait
i swallow the river, the whole wide basin
inside out, the beast am i

sing to the flesh

about the fish-shroud i found
and the bone-bowls i overgrew
and follow my procession
and march with me to the well well well
this is my bodily horizon

i remember drowning and
it felt like the moon’s inner voice
it was a murmuring curse
made of galloping hooves and swollen veins
i keep on wetting the same spell spell spell

not all counting is to one
we touch our bellies, our coral coats
healing hands weighing down
we are so heavy and so is the earth
this can’t get any better
can we?
can we?

monday is moon day
tuesday is fish day
sunday is too bright

i need weaker words to mourn this song
i will sing and it will be gone
